Niantic has revealed that they’re retooling the application process to become a Pokémon GO Community Ambassador.

The Community Ambassador Program launched in July 2022 to support communities worldwide as they hosted local events. By revising this process, Niantic hopes to make it even easier for Trainers to create and lead a local community. Starting now, Trainers in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand can apply to be a Community Ambassador. More regions being added at a later date.

What has changed?

The application process is now fully run by Niantic. Applicants will no longer be required to consult, visit, or utilize external websites or resources.

The minimum community size has been reduced to 10 people.

Applicants must run a total of four local community events. These include but are not limited to Community Day or Raid Day gatherings, trading meetups, GO Battle League tournaments, and local, in-person Pokémon GO Fest celebrations.

What steps do I need to take to become a Community Ambassador?

First, fill out the application. After an initial review of your application, you will be invited to join a community of applicants and continue with the vetting process. After you’ve been added to the group, you must run at least four community events and submit a group photo of each event. After those four events have occurred, we will conduct a final background check and a safety check of your community.
